Finally, siRNA transfection of a wide range of cell types can now be achieved easily and efficiently and without cell toxicity.

The scientists at Tecrea Ltd have developed Nanocin-RNA™ technology to overcome major limitations with existing transfection procedures, which often suffer from difficult protocols, poor efficiency and unacceptable levels of toxicity to cultured cells.

Nanocin-RNA™ is effectively non-toxic to precious cultured cells, including primary cells, which will greatly improve the scientific integrity of your experiments. Nanocin-RNA™ is a newly developed product, but already it has found success in a range of applications and cell types. A key feature of Nanocin-RNA™ is that it efficiently enters the cytoplasm of mammalian cells. This may sound complicated, but our products and protocols make it east.  When mixed with siRNA, Nanocin-RNA™forms nanoparticles that enable efficient siRNA transfection with little or no toxicity. Being effectively non-toxic, the Nanocin-RNA™ reagent can be used for repeated siRNA transfections and the results are more scientifically robust.

 

Nanocin-RNA™ provides a flexible new system for cell delivery. As well as being effectively non-toxic, Nanocin-RNA™ shows excellent efficiency as a siRNA transfection reagent, and it works in a range of cell types. This opens several transfection applications, including transfection of primary cells and other sensitive or difficult to transfect cells. Importantly, the underlying chemistry involved is compatible with clinical development. The table below summarises some of the opportunities made possible with Nanocin-RNA™.

Technology
Combining Nanocin-RNA™with siRNA results in rapid self assembly of nanoparticles. These particles massively enhance delivery of nucleic acid cargos into a wide range of cell types. Moreover, as the platform is so safe there is no need to wash the cells following transfection. Indeed, we have shown that repeated transfection is feasible with no detrimental impact on cells. Nanocin-RNA™ is a siRNA transfection reagent that can be used with even the most sensitive primary cells and the chemistry is compatible with in vivo applications.

Rapid Protocols
The very low toxicity nature of Nanocin-RNA™enables a rapid protocol for siRNA transfection into mammalian cells at the time of splitting or seeding. The rapid protocol almost halves the time of a standard protocol and reduces the protocol by several steps. Both rapid and standard protocols can be found on our website.
